join us each month as we delve into the wonderful work of an artist. exposure to artists work is great for boosting children's own creativity and sparking their curiosity and imagination. it broadens their horizons of the world and culture, showing them how opinions and emotions can be communicated in a variety of ways. we invite you and your little ones to be immersed, through sensory play and process art, into the world of a different artist each month!

“an artist is not special. an artist is an ordinary person who can take ordinary things and make them special.” -  ruth asawa

this month, we will explore the captivating, airy looped wire sculptures of ruth asawa. we will celebrate asawa’s unique approach to modernist sculpture through invitations to create art, sensory play, loose parts play, and collaborative process art, highlighting her impact on the world of sculpture! children will have the opportunity to experiment with wire, natural forms, and unusual textures, channelling asawa’s organic, abstract, yet simple style. as we delve into her artistic approach, we will encourage little ones to create their own three-dimensional pieces that express their creativity and invite exploration of new materials, much like asawa’s innovative wire sculptures.

we advocate for child-led play so we will oversee and facilitate the session as the children freely explore, play, learn, connect and create in the way they want to with the materials and environment.
